One of CDM’s fundamental goals is to train migrants in Mexico to identify and avoid workplace abuses in the United States. CDM’s “Know-Your-Rights” workshops have reached over 6,000 migrants in communities across Mexico. Beginning in February, CDM and members of the Comité will launch a new outreach program in which Comité members will be trained to use the new curriculum to facilitate “Know-Your-Rights” workshops in their own communities. The new curriculum includes seven modules related to the basic rights of temporary workers in the US, such as wage and hour, health and safety, recruitment, and discrimination, among others. With this new capacity, CDM and the Comité will continue to build a network of informed migrants across Mexico and the US, holding US employers accountable for the provision of migrant workers’ basic rights.
