CDM conducts targeted outreach to specific migrant groups and industries where migrants face unique problems. Through the Proyecto de Mujeres Migrantes (ProMuMi or Women Migrants Project), CDM holds meetings with women workers, focusing on sexual assault in the workplace, gender discrimination, pregnancy, and equal pay. CDM’s multilingual staff conduct workshops with indigenous migrants in the Mixteca region to provide Mixtec-language materials and information about U.S. workplace rights. CDM also travels regularly to meet with workers in major sending communities for specific industries. For example, CDM regularly meets with workers in the principal sending communities for the traveling fair and carnival industry, providing targeted information about systemic abuses in that industry.
