Today, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced an immigration reform bill similar to the one passed by the Senate this June, but with different border security provisions. By introducing a bill with many bipartisan measures, Democrats in the House of Representatives are sending a clear message that they will continue to push forward to fix our broken immigration system despite the government shutdown. The bill introduced today in the House of Representatives contains a roadmap to citizenship for the eleven million aspiring Americans, family unity provisions, and worker protections. It also includes critical regulations in the recruitment of migrant workers. The introduction of this bill is a clarion call for House Republicans to resolve the gridlock over budgetary issues and to take up immigration reform at the soonest opportunity.
